NADA Delegation Convenes with Home Minister to Address Cross-Border Trade Issues

A delegation led by the President of NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA), Mr. Karan Chaudhary, met with the Honorable Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha to discuss various issues related to the Nepalese automobile sector.

During the meeting, President Chaudhary expressed concerns about the adverse impact on the sale of cargo vehicles in Nepal due to Indian trucks entering the country for a prolonged time. Due to the continuous entry of Indian trucks into Nepal for 72 hours, it is suggested to implement a provision where they are given a 24-hour time limit and allowed to operate within a maximum distance of 16 km from the customs point.

In the course of the discussion, NADA General Secretary Surendra Kumar Uprety highlighted the issue of illegal imports from India, particularly lubricants, tires, and automobile spare parts, affecting the lubricant and tire tube industries in Nepal. He pointed out that the unauthorized importation was creating difficulties for legitimate businesses in Nepal and requested necessary initiatives to address this issue, considering the impact on industries and revenue.

During the discussion, NADA officials informed about various problems occurring at the checkpoint. In response, the Honorable Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Shrestha expressed deep concern about the issues at the border crossings and pledged that the government would take necessary steps to resolve such problems.

The discussion included the presence of NADA Institutional Vice President Pushkar Ojha, Treasurer Milan Babu Malla, Co-Treasurer Pankaj Agarwal, Central Working Committee Members Riddhi Karki, Narayan Prasad Paudel, and Association Secretary Surendra Pradhan.
