Hyundai Kona Electric has firmly established itself in Nepal’s competitive electric vehicle market, showcasing a distinctive identity. Notably, it stands out as possibly the first compact electric SUV in the Nepali market. Since its introduction in 2019, the Hyundai Kona Electric has garnered significant attention, with over 1,000 units sold to date in Nepal.

Originally launched in Nepal in 2019, the Kona Electric now boasts a facelifted version. Its appeal also lies in its strong resale value, making it the foremost electric vehicle in Nepal. With a successful five-year presence and being the preferred choice for many, the Kona Electric has proven itself as a highly successful and ideal electric vehicle.

Hyundai Vehicles in Nepal are distributed by Laxmi Intercontinental, which actively engages in various initiatives targeting electric vehicles. Noteworthy among these initiatives are the “Be(v) the change” campaign held from December 12 to 16, 2022, and the High Voltage Battery Check-up camp organized from October 6 to 8 during the “Hyundai Festive Carnival.” Over 200 vehicle owners participated in the EV maintenance camp, with results revealing that Kona Electric batteries, after four years of operation, maintained over 95 percent State of Charge (SOC).

Bimal Shrestha, Pilot- Simrik Air, shared his experience from the checkup camp, highlighting his preference for the Kona Electric due to its capabilities, trust in the Hyundai brand, substantial battery capacity, and appealing design. Expressing satisfaction with the Kona Electric, he noted that the battery capacity of his vehicle had decreased less than anticipated, emphasizing the reliability of the Kona Electric during his various journeys.

Globally renowned, the Hyundai Kona Electric enjoys popularity in the Nepali market, not only for its features but also for its high resale value, contributing to its reputation in the secondary market. Hyundai’s commitment to reliability is exemplified through the Kona Electric, making it a preferred choice among customers seeking environmentally friendly vehicles in the Nepali auto market

In terms of pricing, the Kona Electric GL is priced at Rs 59,96,000. Similarly, the Kona Electric GLS variant is available at Rs 64.96 Lakh. The Hyundai Kona is powered by a 39.2 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery with a range of up to 305 km on a single charge. The electric motor of the Kona makes 134 hp and 395 Nm of instant torque. A 100 kW DC fast charger will charge the battery to 80 percent in just 54 minutes.
