Bookings of the all-new five-door Suzuki Jimny have commenced in Nepal. The pricing of the Jimny SUV will be only announced on July 24. In the Indian market, the Jimny SUV starts at INR 12.74 Lakh for the entry-level Zeta trim and goes up to INR 15.05 Lakh for the top-spec Alpha trim (both prices ex-showroom, India). The Jimny comes in six trims, in both manual and automatic gearbox options.

The Jimny 5-door isn’t an entirely new design; the longer SUV shares many similarities with the shorter 3-door counterpart. Apart from a longer wheelbase, two more doors, and a revised rear section, the India-spec Jimny 5-door resembles the global 3-door model. The trademark Jimny design elements, such as upright pillars, clean surfacing, round headlamps, slatted grille, chinky off-road tyres, and flared wheel arches, are also present on the India-spec variant.

The 5-door Jimny gets Maruti Suzuki’s K15B engine, which is coupled to either a 4-speed torque converter automatic or a 5-speed manual gearbox. This engine delivers 105hp and 134Nm of peak torque. It also receives Maruti’s mild-hybrid technology. Similarly, the Jimny will offer a range of 16.94kmpl for the manual transmission model and 16.39kmpl for the automatic transmission model.

The Jimny 5-door sports Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system with a manual transfer case and low-range transmission with ‘2WD-high,’ ‘4WD-high,’ and ‘4WD-low’ modes. It boasts a sturdy ladder-frame chassis, a 3-link rigid axle suspension, and an electronic traction control system that automatically brakes slipping wheels and redistributes force to other wheels. The Jimny 5-door features a 36-degree approach angle, a 24-degree break-over angle, a 50-degree departure angle, and a 210mm ground clearance.

In terms of features, the Jimny 5-door gets Maruti’s SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Arkamys sound system. Safety features include 6 airbags, ESP with hill hold assist, hill descent control, rear-view camera and ABS with EBD.
