Tata Nano Could Make Comeback In An Electric Avatar

The already-discontinued Tata Nano could make a comeback, however, in an electric avatar. According to media reports, Tata Motors may consider resurrecting the people’s car in an electric version with substantial changes to its existing platform. There could be significant changes to the underpinnings, suspensions, tyres, etc.

As per the rumor mill, the Nano EV could be powered with a 19.2 kWh battery pack from the Tiago EV with more than 280 km of range. The Tata Nano was discontinued in 2020 owing to poor as soon as the BS6 emission norms came into effect. The Nano was powered by a 624cc, twin-cylinder petrol engine that produced 38bhp and 51Nm of torque. This engine was offered with a four-speed manual transmission and an AMT unit, sending power to the rear wheels.

Tata Motors’s electric lineup includes the Nexon EV, Tigor EV, Tiago EV and the Xpress-T EV. The Indian carmaker plans to roll out 10 models in the next 5 years.
