Karan Chaudhary, Executive Director of CG | Holdings, has been unanimously chosen as the new President of the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA). A consensus was reached yesterday, stipulating that Akash Golchha, an alternative contender for the chairmanship, would assume the position in the subsequent term. The upcoming 47th Annual General Meeting of NADA, scheduled for December 20 and 21, will determine the new leadership.

Chaudhary serves as the Managing Director of CG | MotoCorp, specializing in the sale and distribution of Maruti Suzuki vehicles in Nepal. Similarly, Golchha has a background in selling Ford vehicles. In NADA, as in the Federation of Nepal Industry and Commerce and Confederation of Nepal Industry, it has been decided that the senior vice president will automatically ascend to the presidency in the next term.

It is reported that an understanding has been established between the two parties, designating Golchha as the senior vice president. NADA President Thapa explained, “We will introduce a senior vice-president position by amending the constitution, which includes a provision for the senior vice-president to automatically assume the presidency. There is a plan to amend the constitution within the next three months.” NADA follows a system of electing the president and working committee members, and subsequently appointing the vice president, general secretary, treasurer, and other positions from the elected working committee members.

Rajan Babu Shrestha, CEO of Sipradi, competed with Chaudhary and Golchha for the NADA chairmanship. Following Sipradi’s CEO Shrestha endorsing Chaudhary as the President, it was anticipated that there would be a contest between the two candidates. Nevertheless, NADA’s current president, Dhruba Thapa, stated that in the current crisis, the two leaders should unite and move forward. Industry insiders believe that in times of crisis, it sends a more positive message for both sides to cooperate and advance rather than engage in conflict.

President Thapa expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to reaching this agreement and stated, “We have been working towards an agreement at NADA for some time now.” He emphasized the success of conveying a message of unity amid challenging times for all businessmen.

Karan Chaudhary, who secured unanimous approval for the chairmanship, acknowledged that the agreement reached in NADA significantly enhances the organization’s pride and prestige. “This agreement has heightened the pride and prestige of NADA,” he remarked.
