Hyundai has taken the covers off the India-spec, second-generation Creta SUV at Auto Expo 2020. While the previous generation Hyundai Creta was a proper conventionally designed SUV, the new generation Hyundai Creta aims to spice things up by mixing radically designed elements. The second-gen Creta not only comes with revamped exterior and interiors but will also come with a new BS6-compliant engine line-up.

Inspired by the Hyundai Palisade, Hyundai’s flagship SUV the Hyundai Creta is a sight to behold. The new Creta is marginally larger than the original and is longer in its wheelbase too. The split headlight arrangement comprises a slit-like LED DRL on top with the main cluster – also lined by an LED strip – positioned lower down. The headlight cluster is made of LED headlights with new-look fog lamps below. A scuff plate at the base of the bumper is also included. The exterior elements also include a “flying C-pillar”, new 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and the unique layout of the CRETA emblem at the rear.

If the new exterior is to be called great, then the new interior will definitely set a new benchmark in its segment, maybe even a segment above it. The dashboard is more compact and has clean, serene surfacing to go with the minimalist theme of the overall interior design. The center console on the Chinese spec Creta (called ix25) is dominated by a Tesla-like 10.25-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen and digital dials that combine the functions of the infotainment system and even the climate control system among others. There is a compact steering wheel, on the front of which lies a fully digital instrument cluster. You also get an aircraft-style gearshift lever with digital gear indicate that looks beautiful and sophisticated. While there is no confirmation if the portrait touch-screen, aircraft gear lever, and all the Chinese ix25 bells and whistles will make it into the India spec Creta, Hyundai has confirmed the Creta for India will come with a panoramic sunroof and the brand’s BlueLink in-car connectivity tech, though features like cooled seats and wireless charging are also expected.

The second-gen Hyundai Creta will be powered by a 140 bhp 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol or a 115 bhp 1.5-liter petrol and a 115 bhp 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engines with transmission options that include a 6-speed manual transmission, a CVT and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) as well. Hyundai will announce the prices of the 2020 Creta in India next month.
